The heart of our Sunday celebration in summer ordinary time does not change nor is it considered a time out for rest and relaxation from God. Ordinary time does not refer to a lack of something to celebrate. Apart from those seasons having their own distinctive character [Advent, Christmas, Lent, Triduum Eastertime], the “ordered” Sundays of Ordinary Time are devoted to the mystery of Christ in all its aspects. What happens in our church every Sunday is the fruit of our week.
Therefore, we encourage regular participation by all members of our family throughout the entire summer season. We promise to respect the special nature of summer with a heightened sensitivity to time and movement during Sunday liturgy. Hopefully, our summer experience will foster a hunger and readiness for the return of the major seasons of the church year with everyone’s commitment to full, active and conscious participation at Mass every Sunday without hurry!
Remember, Sunday is simultaneously a point of arrival and departure for Christians on their way to the kingdom. This is not ordinary at all. This is the fabric of Christian living.
